WARREN -- A jury convicted a 62-year-old man of four counts of sexual battery and one count of corruption of a minor but was unable to reach a verdict on two counts of rape, one charge of corruption of a minor and on four other sexual battery charges.
The jury reached the verdicts in Robert Gibson's case after deliberating nearly seven hours. The case was heard in the courtroom of Judge John Stuard of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
Gibson, who is being held in the county jail without bond, will be sent enced after a background check by the county adult probation department. He could receive up to 10 years in prison, court officials said.
Neither Gibson, of North Albright McKay Road, Brookfield, nor his attorney, Dan Keating, could be reached to comment.
Charges against son: Police and relatives say Gibson is the father of Robert Leroy Gibson III, 38, also of South Albright McKay Road, who faces several counts of criminal mischief and aggravated trespassing.
Niles and Howland police say Gibson III is accused of throwing semen at women at Eastwood Mall and the nearby Kmart store in Niles.
The older Gibson's trial began last week.
Police said the older Gibson was accused of raping a 14-year-old girl he knows in his Brookfield home.
The younger Gibson has pleaded innocent in Niles Municipal Court to seven counts of criminal mischief and one count of aggravated trespassing, all misdemeanors. He is accused of throwing semen on at least four women between Aug. 4 and Nov. 21.
