Softball teammoves to McCune
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown State softball program will have a new home field this season, McCune Park, located on Shields Road in Canfield. YSU's season opener will be at Stetson (Fla.) on March 10.
Halftime contest
YOUNGSTOWN -- "Halftime Havoc," a sports competition for faculty, staff and students at Youngstown State, will be held at halftime of Thursday's men's basketball game against UW-Green Bay.

Pro-Am playersare sought
VIENNA -- Local amateurs are invited to golf with LPGA professionals at the Vindicator Pro-Am July 15 at Squaw Creek Country Club.
The Vindicator Pro-Am is played in a five-player (one professional and four amateurs) scramble format with tee times and LPGA professional determined by blind draw. Amateurs may select their own four-person team or be paired.
The amateur package includes one round of golf with an LPGA professional, continental breakfast and a luncheon awards party.
On July 24, Youngstown Country Club will play host to the KeyBank Pro-Am. This event will begin at 1 p.m., with a shotgun start in a five-player (one professional and four amateurs) scramble format. Amateurs may select their own four-person team or be paired.
The amateur package includes one round of golf with an LPGA professional, on-course beverage service and cocktails and hors d'oeuvres following play.

Fazio to speak
WARREN -- Foge Fazio, the defensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns, will be the guest speaker at the Warren Sports Hall of Fame dinner Monday night at DiLucia's Banquet Room on Elm Road.
A social hour and cash bar will begin at 6 p.m. and dinner to follow at 7 p.m.
Tickets may be purchased at DiLucia's daily between 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. or by mailing a check to the Warren Sports Hall of Fame, P.O. Box 1444, Warren, 44482. Tickets are $15 if purchased by Friday or $20 after that date. Tickets will also be sold at the door.
Poland-Springfieldtickets on sale
POLAND -- Tickets for Friday's Springfield-Poland boys high school basketball game at Poland will be sold at each school today through Friday.
Tickets, $5 for adults and $3 for students, will be on sale at Springfield from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and at Poland from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Doors to the game open at 5 p.m. at Poland.
Bowers to signautographs
SHENANGO, Pa. -- Pittsburgh Steelers' R.J. Bowers will visit the Shenango Valley Mall on March 1 as part of the mall's Sports Card and Collectible show.
Bowers, a West Middlesex native, attended Grove City College and is now a running back for the Steelers.
He will be available to meet with fans and sign autographs from 5 to 7 p.m. in the mall's center court.
Thiel's Snydernamed by PAC
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Thiel College senior forward Sara Snyder was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
Snyder, a native of Toronto, Ohio, averaged 18.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last week, leading the Tomcats to a 2-0 mark.

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Jackie Myers, women's basketball coach and associate athletic director at Geneva, has accepted a position as athletic director at NCAA Division III Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C.
Myers, who is in her eighth season at Geneva, has served as the women's basketball coach and associate athletic director since 1994. Myers has compiled a record of 107-121.

* WASHINGTON -- Michael Jordan did not have his knee drained and is instead relying on ice and rest to soothe the ailing joint that will force him to miss a game for only the second time this season.
* NEW YORK -- Clifford Robinson of the Detroit Pistons was suspended for one game for pleading guilty to driving while under the influence of alcohol, violating Arizona state law. Robinson will miss the Pistons' home game against Washington on Wednesday.
* DENVER -- Denver Nuggets forward Antonio McDyess, who has been recovering from knee surgery, plans to play for the first time this season on March 1.
