Workers who lost jobscan get free tax help
YOUNGSTOWN -- Liberty Tax Service, with offices in Youngstown, Niles and Leavittsburg, is offering free income tax preparation for any LTV Corp. or CSC Ltd. employees who has lost a job due to recent plant closings.
The service applies to employees' individual 1040, state and city tax returns. Returns will be filed electronically for a quick refund. Call (330) 898-1130 for more information.
Strike continuesat Linde Hydraulics
GREEN TOWNSHIP -- Members of Operating Engineers Local 66 are in their third week of a strike at Linde Hydraulics, 5089 Western Reserve Road.
Fred Englehart, the company's attorney, said bargaining unit employees have been on the picket line since their contract expired Feb. 1. The union represents 17 employees.
Englehart said the company produces hydraulic equipment and is continuing operations, despite the walkout. Union officials could not be reached.
