Man reports beating
AUSTINTOWN -- Police are investigating a report that several men beat a Purdue Avenue man anddamaged his house and a car early Sunday.
Reports do not indicate that the man, 21, received treatment. He told police that he was in a parked car outside his house with his girlfriend, 19, at about 2:20 a.m. Sunday when the attack occurred.
The attackers parked their car behind the couple. His girlfriend said the attackers got out of their car and threw a brick through her window, hitting the Purdue Avenue man. They also hit the couple's car with baseball bats and pulled the man out of the car and punched him and beat him, the couple said.
The girlfriend said there were between six and eight attackers.
The Purdue Avenue man and his father told police the attackers also broke a window and several decorative lights on their home. The father said the attack was a result of a dispute between the men and his other son.
Charged after chase
AUSTINTOWN -- A Youngstown man faces several charges as a result of a chase with police early Sunday.
The East Philadelphia Avenue man, 27, faces charges of resisting arrest, fleeing and eluding, and several traffic violations. He also was wanted by Twinsburg police for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving under suspension and by Mahoning Countydeputy sheriffs for a probation violation.
Police stopped the man for a traffic violation at about 2:20 a.m. in the parking lot of Gavo's Sports Bar on Mahoning Avenue. As an officer approached the man's car, the man drove away.
The officer chased the man on Meridian Road and Mahoning Avenue. The man drove on the wrong side of the road and ran a red light before getting onto Interstate 680.
The man exited I-680 on South Avenue and drove to the Gibson Street area, where he got out and ran behind a home. The Austintown officer and Youngstown police chased him through back yards before arresting him behind a garage near Gibson Street.
Reported missing
AUSTINTOWN -- A Timber Lane woman has been reported to police as missing. Kourtney Caradina, 20, last spoke to her mother on the phone at about 7:15 p.m. Saturday, when the two had a disagreement over when Caradina was expected to return home. Her mother said she overheard a man's voice on the phone offering to take Caradina to Akron. Caradina is black, about 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 104 pounds. She was last seen wearing jeans, a white shirt and a red Nautica jacket and carrying a brown duffel bag.
