Task force is looking for new members

The organization is made up mostly by women, but men are welcome.
WARREN -- The Marital Rights Task Force of Trumbull County is recruiting members.
The organization meets monthly at different locations and is dedicated to the reform of the legal system pertaining to divorce.

200 members: The group has about 200 members, of which about 90 percent are women, Stychno said. A $15 fee is charged to pay for postage materials and a newsletter.
Men and women from the area are welcome to join.
The group originated in Columbus 11 years ago, and Stychno said she and Connie Cera decided to start one locally.
Most people "don't come to us until their divorce is a mess," she said.
The group does not provide legal advice but will talk about personal experiences and provide information on where to get help. They often send a representative into court with those who don't want to go alone.
Stychno and Cera were invited by state Supreme Court Justice Alice Robie Resnick to sit on a committee looking into gender inequality in the state of Ohio.
Discrimination: A gender bias study found domestic courts discriminate against women, they say.
During those meetings, Stychno said she heard several people refer to Trumbull County as "Trouble County" because of problems with the domestic court system here.
Cera said the marital rights group was responsible for getting former Judge Thomas Norton to step down from the family court bench in Trumbull County after more than 20 grievances were filed against him.
"Domestic court has become a terrible place to have to visit," she said. "You're just totally disregarded as a human being."
