Sixth Chili Cookoff is set for Feb. 24

YOUNGSTOWN -- Chrystal's Restaurant on Belmont Avenue will be the setting Feb. 24 for the sixth annual Chili Cookoff to benefit the VanSickle Foundation.
The event will take place from noon to 6 p.m. Fourteen contestants have entered, and the public will be welcome to attend and vote for the winning chili.
Tickets are $10 each and will be available at the door.
The organization: The VanSickle Foundation was started to help children with special needs who slip through the cracks of medical assistance. It assists children in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties in the purchase of items of special need related to any illness or disability.
Funding requests may be sent to the VanSickle Foundation, P.O. Box 6022, Youngstown, Ohio 44501. The current spending cap is $2,500 unless there is a unanimous vote by the board. In order to receive funds all other avenues of funding must be exhausted, including insurance and public agencies.
