JFK advances five to district event

ROOTSTOWN -- The Warren JFK wrestling team qualified five athletes for next week's Division III district tournament at Elyria Catholic High.
The Eagles placed eighth in Saturday's district meet with 108 points.
Darren Ross (27-6) of the Eagles decisioned Randy Keller (25-11) 12-6 for the 152-pound championship in the sectional tournament at Rootstown High School.
Teammates Bobby Poweski (27-8) won by major decision over John Archer (8-3) 20-9 for the 171 title and Jared Poweski (28-6) decisioned Titus Phile (26-9) of Cardinal Middlefield for the 215 crown.
Chris Bradley (7-7) of Warren JFK pinned Cody Grimm (12-21) of Woodridge for third place. A.J. Seifert (9-16) placed fourth at 189.
