A carjacking in Sharon is the focus of Mercer County Crime Solvers this week:
Crime: Robbery and car theft.Location: Cedar Avenue, Sharon.Details: Police said a city woman was approached by a man near George Street around 7:30 p.m. Feb. 1 who asked for a ride to Cedar Avenue, but when they stopped in the 700 block of Cedar Avenue, he forced the gear shift into park and demanded money from the woman. She jumped out and ran, and the man took her 1997 Oldsmobile Bravada, police said.Vehicle recovered: Southwest Mercer County Regional Police recovered the vehicle around 9:50 p.m. Feb. 5 after chasing it a short distance in Farrell. The driver stopped the vehicle in an alley between the 1000 blocks of Wallis and Fruit avenues and fled on foot, eluding capture.Suspect: The man who stole the vehicle was described as a black male between 17 and 20 years old, standing 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing about 180 pounds. Police said the man driving the vehicle when it was stopped four days later was described as a short black male in his teens and wearing a black jacket with a hood.Contact: Call Crime Solvers between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at (724) 347-HELP.
