Effect on school districts
The proposed Pennsylvania budget has school districts receiving a 1 percent increase in their basic subsidy for the next school year -- a drop from the 3 percent to 4 percent increases seen in the past few years. Here is a breakdown of what school districts in Lawrence and Mercer counties received last year and what they will receive if Gov. Mark Schweiker's budget is approved:
