YOUNGSTOWN Mooney fades to Boardman

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Boardman High basketball team put three players in double figures as the Spartans turned back Cardinal Mooney 61-47 Friday in a Steel Valley Conference game.
The Cardinals (9-10, 1-6), ahead 24-19 at intermission, were outscored 16-7 in the third quarter.
Curtis Ingram and Joe Burke sparked the Cardinals with 18 and 11 points, respectively.
Eric Baldwin and Brian Weiser led the Spartans with 14 points apiece, and Matt Marks finished with 13.
Beaver Local 55, Chaney 46: YOUNGSTOWN -- Chaney (7-11), which led 24-21 at intermission, couldn't hold off Beaver Local's 34-22 second-half surge.
Roy Austin paced the Cowboys with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Keilen Dykes chipped in with 12 points and Chris Childers had seven assists.
Tim Pancake led the Beavers' balanced scoring attack with 18 points. Jake Robinson and Derek Smith each had 11.
Mike Zelinsky pulled down eight of 32 rebounds.
West Branch 56, Akron Springfield 37: AKRON -- Josh Scott had 15 points, seven assists and six steals as the Warriors cruised to a Northeastern Buckeye Conference victory.
Nate Greenawalt had eight points and nine rebounds and Sam Jones added 10 points for West Branch (8-11, 6-8).
Aaron Holcomb led the Spartans (1-17, 1-13) with 16 points.
