LENTEN SEASON Churches announce programs



SHARON, Pa. -- St. John's Episcopal Church, 226 W. State St. in Sharon, and The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 5130 E. State St. in Hermitage, will begin their Lenten programs Tuesday.
Baritone Allan Mosher, a voice teacher and director of the opera program at the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University, will perform after a program of carillon music at noon in St. John's. The performance will be followed by a light lunch in the Parish House.
"What D'ya Know: Learning More About Our Worship and Prayer Book" will be the theme of programs at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer.
That series begins Tuesday and will continue Feb. 26 and March 12 and 19. The Tuesday and the March 12 programs begin with evening prayer at 6:25 p.m. The March 12 service begins with a healing service and Mass, and the March 19 service with Stations of the Cross, both at 6 p.m. A soup supper will follow each of the series' programs.
Speakers series: St. John's will continue its Lenten programs with a series of speakers discussing "Holy Terror: A Christian Response."
Each begins at 5:30 p.m. and includes a tureen supper.
The program dates and speakers are:
UWednesday: The Rev. Douglas K. Dayton, rector of St. John's.
UFeb. 27: The Rev. Martha Ishman, vicar of St. Clement's Church of Greenville.
UMarch 6: The Very Rev. Dennis Blauser of Hermitage, archdeacon of the Episcopal Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania.
UMarch 13: The Rev. Robert Coval, rector of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer.
UMarch 20: The Right Rev. Robert D. Rowley, bishop of the diocese.
