COLUMBIANA COUNTY Petitions fail to include enough valid addresses

The candidate will need to circulate new petitions.
LISBON -- Columbiana County commissioner candidate Don Vos has withdrawn his election petitions after a routine check of the documents showed some invalid addresses.
Vos, of Washingtonville, said Friday, however, that he plans to remedy the problem and return to the race.
His petitions contained 55 signatures of registered voters.
The six invalid ones put Vos below the required number, which is 50, explained elections board director John Payne.
The six signers were invalidated because the addresses they gave didn't match the addresses the elections board has for those individuals, Payne said.
That can occur when a voter registers and later moves.
Needs new petitions: To get on the May 7 primary election ballot, Vos will need to submit new petitions with the required number of valid signers, Payne said.
Thursday is the deadline for submitting election petitions.
Vos wants to seek the Republican nomination for the county commissioner seat now held by Dave Cranmer, a Democrat, who intends to run again.
Vos, 48, says he is commander of the county and state unorganized militias.
Both groups are private organizations that frequently challenge the role local, state and federal governments play in individuals' lives.
