YOUNGSTOWN Eagle Heights teacher faces sex-related charge

The man met the girl on the Internet and flew to Illinois to meet her, the sheriff's department said.

YOUNGSTOWN -- A kindergarten teacher at Eagle Heights Academy faces extradition to Illinois on a charge that he used the Internet to solicit sex from a 14-year-old girl in Rockford, Ill.
Mahoning County deputy sheriffs arrested Brad D. Moison, 29, of Holland Avenue, Youngstown, on Wednesday at the school. He appeared before Judge Robert G. Lisotto of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court Thursday. Moison said he will fight extradition on a charge of solicitation of a child.
Judge Lisotto set a $5,000, or 10 percent, bond, and Moison was released from the Mahoning County Justice Center after posting $500.
Lawyer speaks: Moison's attorney, John Falgiani of Liberty Township, called his client "a nice kid" with a clean record who may have gotten caught up in an unfortunate situation.
"It's common for singles to chat on the Internet," Falgiani said. "And it appears to me that it may have been a very, very unfortunate misunderstanding between two people very far apart."
Falgiani said his client has been on leave from the school since his arrest.
Flew to meet her: Sheriff's Major Michael Budd said Moison met the girl on the Internet and had flown to Illinois to meet her. Moison is not accused of having sexual contact with or abusing the child.
An arrest warrant from Winnebago County, Ill., Circuit Court accuses Moison of soliciting the girl between Nov. 1, 2000, and March 3, 2001, to do "an act of sexual conduct which if done would have been aggravated criminal sexual abuse."
The warrant had requested a $50,000 bond. Prosecutors there will now apply for a governor's warrant for extradition, Budd said.
