After chase, police charge man with threats; burglary probed

AUSTINTOWN -- Township police arrested a man on several charges and are investigating a burglary at a township business.
Police arrested a 23-year-old township man around 3:20 a.m. today after authorities said he threatened his ex-girlfriend. Police said the man appeared at the woman's Lake Road bedroom window asking to talk. When he began threatening her, the woman called police.
Police chased the man through the back yard on foot to his car. He then led police on a high-speed chase ending on Shields Road in Boardman.
When he was arrested, police found a large knife in his back pants pocket. He faces charges of concealing a weapon, fleeing and eluding, criminal trespass, menacing, and driving under the influence.
A bag of holiday towels and serving items were taken from a rented unit at Uncle Bob's Storage, 3690 LeHarps Road. The owner told township police that a manager of the storage facility informed her that the lock was missing from her storage unit Jan. 31
Police reports say the lock had been removed using bolt cutters. Because the victim had not visited her storage unit recently, police could not determine when the theft occurred.
