Mount Union tripped Marietta while Hiram was drilled by Wooster.
BETHANY, W.Va. -- The Bethany College men's basketball team clinched the top seed for next week's Presidents' Athletic Conference tournament with a 75-59 victory over Thiel on Wednesday.
Nevada Smith scored a game-high 24 points for Bethany (17-7, 6-1), while Keith Schubert, a Girard High graduate, added 19 points.
For Thiel (10-14, 4-3), D.J. Gambridge had 16 points, while Boardman High graduate A.H. Davis tossed in 14.
Mount Union 59, Marietta 56: MARIETTA -- Richard Jackson and Todd Richards each scored 14 points to lead the Purple Raiders.
Ron Powers and Dan Vaughn added 10 points each for Mount Union (17-7, 12-5 Ohio Athletic Conference).
Marietta (13-11, 8-9) was led by Jesse DuPerow, who had 20 points and 13 rebounds.
Wooster 93, Hiram 60: HIRAM -- Wooster connected on 66.7 percent of its shots to cruise past Hiram. Antwan Reynolds' game-high 15 points led five Scots (19-5, 13-2 NCAC) in double figures.
Hiram (5-19, 13-2) was led by David Mayle and Lakeview High graduate Josh Hoffman with 11 points each.
Oberlin 79, Allegheny 65: OBERLIN -- Chris Ikpoh scored 25 points and Jon MacDonald added 15 for Oberlin (8-15, 7-8 NCAC).
Nick Catanzarite paced Allegheny (11-12, 6-9) with 29 points and 10 rebounds.
Westminster 76, Grove City 69: GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Pat O'Connor had 23 points and Warren Harding High graduate Craig Bohyer added 15 for Westminster (10-14).
Jim Fetzner and Tanner Prosser each scored 13 points for Grove City (16-8), and Ian Dean added 10.
Clarion 74, Slippery Rock 60: CLARION, Pa. -- David Shearer had 20 points and 13 rebounds to spark Clarion. Allen Stevens added 15 points and Steve Serwatka 13 for Clarion (13-9, 6-4).
For Slippery Rock (6-17, 1-9), Aaron Epps scored 17 points, Chucky Frierson 13 and Dave Freeman 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Women: GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Jessica Jenkins converted 6-of-6 free throws in the second overtime as Grove City defeated Westminster 77-7.
Cara Denniston put the game into overtime by hitting a 3-pointer from the right corner with 10 seconds remaining in regulation. Kristy Kegg of Grove City forced a second overtime when she scored a tying basket with 24 seconds remaining.
Stephanie Murphy led Grove City (13-10) with 18 points and added eight rebounds, six assists and six steals.
South Range High graduate Robin Thayer paced Westminster (12-11) with 18 points.
Mount Union 59, Marietta 53: ALLIANCE -- Nikki Scarpitti (Sebring High) and Ashley Bourdeau each scored 15 points to lead Mount Union.
Wilson High graduate Dana Robinson added 11 points and Amber Oberly 10 for Mount Union (7-17, 4-13 OAC).
Thiel 73, Bethany 69: BETHANY, W.Va. -- Sara Snyder led four Thiel players in double figures with 18 points.
Mayumi Sasaki and Amanda Swanson each had 13 points, while Jennifer Barnes finished with 11. Swanson also grabbed 14 rebounds for Thiel (12-12, 3-4 PAC).
Bethany (18-6, 5-2) got 26 points and 17 rebounds from Cardinal Mooney High graduate Katie Hardie. Nikki Babik added 14 points and Kelley Richardson 12.
Allegheny 64, Hiram 43: HIRAM -- Michelle Popovec (Canfield High) had 18 points and seven rebounds for Allegheny (14-9, 10-5 NCAC), and Jessica Kankoski added 14 points.
Hiram (3-20, 0-15) was led by Terra Roane with 12 points and five rebounds.
Slippery Rock 76, Clarion 71: CLARION, Pa. -- Jackie Altenweg fired in 25 points and Shelbey Wardman added 23 to lead Slippery Rock (13-10, 6-4).
Tiffany Taylor had 15 points for Clarion (11-12, 5-5).
