DISTRICT Howland and Canfield tie for MAC championship title

HOWLAND -- Marianne Krezeczowski scored 10 of her 16 points in the first half as Howland took a 29-7 halftime lead and went on to a 62-23 victory Wednesday over Struthers.
Howland (17-2, 8-2) and Canfield (15-5, 8-2) tied for the Metro Athletic Conference title.
Darcy Quinlan had seven points and nine assists, Michelle Rura had eight rebounds and Kristina Ferenac had six steals for the Tigers.
Kristy Marapese had six points and Melissa Shipley added five rebounds for Struthers (4-16, 1-9).
Canfield 53, Niles 41: NILES -- Canfield pulled away from Niles with a 17-5 second-quarter edge.
The Cardinals were led by Nicole Vlajkovich with 16 points.
Bree Longberry and Stacia Ray each scored 11 points for Niles (5-15, 1-9).
Chaney 48, Campbell 38: YOUNGSTOWN -- A four-point play by Tameka Thompson helped Chaney hold off visiting Campbell.
Campbell had a 37-36 lead with five minutes remaining when Chaney took over. Thompson's play put the Cowgirls ahead 44-38 with 1:30 to play.
Joselyn Parker scored 20 points to pace Chaney (7-13), while Sumya McElroy added 12 points. Tara Mshar grabbed nine rebounds.
Tierra McIntosh had 11 points and 10 rebounds for Campbell (5-14).
Mineral Ridge 55, Springfield 39: NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Mineral Ridge jumped on Springfield 19-6 in the first quarter in the Inter-County League victory.
Dariana Casado poured in 23 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for the Rams (12-8, 8-6). Tiffany Hack dished out four assists.
Springfield (12-8, 10-4) was led by Lindsay Johnson with 16 points.
Lowellville 57, Jackson-Milton 43: NORTH JACKSON -- Four players scored in double figures for Lowellville.
Amanda Nero led the Rockets (13-7, 9-5 ICL) with 18 points, while Tami Nero added 15 points and Laura Bryer and Rebecca Basista 12 each.
Jackson-Milton (2-18, 1-13) got 13 points each from Jesi Hemphill and Sarah Johnson.
