Austintown cops investigate thefts

AUSTINTOWN -- Township police charged a Youngstown man accused of stealing several Tylenol products from Santisi IGA on Mahoning Avenue.
It was one of several theft-related calls police responded to Wednesday.
IGA employees told police that the man, 49, of Granite Street, placed 15 packages of Tylenol products in his jacket and pants and tried to leave the store about 12:45 p.m.
A struggle began when employees stopped the man from leaving. He was eventually taken to the store office and held for police, who charged him with theft.
Police also received a report Wednesday that two men took $154 from the Save-A-Lot store on South Raccoon Road. A clerk said one of the men distracted her while the other took money from her cash register at about 1:30 p.m.
Police are investigating that theft, as well as the theft of three DVD movies Wednesday morning from Pilot Oil on state Route 46.
A clerk told police that a man placed three DVD movies under his shirt and then left the store at about 10 a.m.
