LIBERTY SCOPE center to open

LIBERTY -- Liberty SCOPE Center will open March 18 for senior citizen programs.
Township trustees have agreed to lease a portion of White Wing Christian Book Store on Tibbetts-Wick Road from building owner Church of God of Prophecy.
Township administrator Darlene St. George said the township will pay the church $1,500 monthly, plus cover 66 percent of the utility bills.
Trumbull County SCOPE, which will operate the center, will spend $30,000 for one year on a director and supplies.
St. George said questionnaires will be available at the township administration building, churches and stores for residents to fill out so officials can determine what type of programs they want at the center.
Janet Schweitzer, Trumbull County SCOPE director, said this will be the fifth center operated by the agency in the county.
Activities will include lectures, health activities and screenings, crafts, games and perhaps a computer lab.
The activities, Schweitzer explained, will be based on response to the questionnaires.
