GIRLS ROUNDUP Wellsville rallies past Campbell in 47-42 win



The Red Devils failed to score over the final four minutes of the contest.
WELLSVILLE -- The Wellsville High girls basketball team outscored Campbell 12-7 in the final quarter Monday to defeat the visiting Red Devils 47-42.
Lynsey Lyle scored 17 points and had eight rebounds while Jessica Dinch added 11 points for Wellsville (5-14).
Tierra McIntosh had 17 points and 12 rebounds while Amanda Quinn added 12 points for Campbell (5-13).
The Tigers took a 16-11 first-quarter lead as Lyle scored seven in the period. McIntosh scored 10 points in the second quarter as the Red Devils took a 27-23 lead at the break.
Wellsville rallied to tie the score at 35-35 as Lyle and Dinch scored 10 of the 12 Tiger points in the third period.
There were four lead changes in the last eight minutes. The Red Devils took their last lead at 42-40 on a three-point play by Anna Zembillas with just under four minutes to play.
Campbell did not score the rest of the way as the Tigers tied the score on a Lyle basket, followed by another hoop by Rachel Klavohm. Three free throws down the stretch, one by Dana Flint and two by Dinch, sealed the victory.
Campbell was just 14-of-60 (23 percent) from the field, while Wellsville connected on 17-of-37 (46 percent). Campbell won the rebounding battle 43-30, and both teams had 24 turnovers.
Mooney 74, Wilson 33: YOUNGSTOWN -- Mooney placed 12 players in the scoring column.
Aieshya Dixon led the way for the Cardinals (11-8) with 22 points and 15 rebounds.
Lori Patrone added 12 points, eight assists and five steals for Mooney, while Karla Fedina added 10 points. Natalie Damiano also had six assists for the Cardinals.
Charity Burt paced Wilson (2-18) with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Champion 42, Lakeview 30: CORTLAND -- Champion distanced itself from Lakeview with a 15-9 edge in the third quarter.
Elizabeth Wood scored 13 points and Brianne Kochunas 10 for the Golden Flashes (10-9, 9-6 Trumbull Athletic Conference), who won the rebounding battle 36-26.
Lakeview (7-12, 5-10) was led by Amanda Monroe and Erika Sentner with seven points apiece.
Leetonia 53, Lisbon 47 (OT): LEETONIA -- Leetonia outscored Lisbon 9-3 in overtime for the Tri-County League victory.
Jess Deville led the Bears (14-5, 10-3) with 15 points and eight rebounds. Jenna Santini grabbed seven boards.
Lisbon (13-6, 8-5) got 21 points from Mallory Smith.
