Man, 5 women to face charges



YOUNGSTOWN -- Police arrested five women suspected of engaging in prostitution, and a man alleged to be a pimp, within a four-hour period Sunday evening.
Police made the first arrest, of a 35-year-old Hubbard woman, around 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Oakhill and Marmion avenues.
Police said a 36-year-old Youngstown woman was arrested 15 minutes later near Oakhill and Myrtle avenues carrying a crack pipe.
A 42-year-old Youngstown woman was arrested at 8 p.m. near Oakhill and Myrtle, carrying two crack pipes, condoms, lighters, unknown pills and small plastic bags with suspected crack residue.
Police found a 30-year-old Youngstown woman crying on the corner of Market Street and Princeton Avenue. The woman told police she was being forced to turn tricks by her pimp to make up for lost money.
She also said she'd been struck by the pimp across the left side of her face and mouth.
Police said they found the man she identified across the street, sitting in a Jeep Cherokee with another alleged prostitute. Police said the man threw a crack pipe to the ground when police approached, and the woman in the vehicle also had a crack pipe.
All six people were arrested and taken to Mahoning County Jail.
