PROMOTIONS
Elevated to colonel
Air Force Col. Michael J. Moschella, formerly of Youngstown, was promoted to his current rank while assigned as chief of aircraft production, Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center, Tinker Air Force Base, Okla.
Moschella, a son of Phyllis Moschella of Poland and the late A.A. Moschella, graduated from Youngstown Ursuline High School, then earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Arizona and master's degrees in business administration and education from Louisiana Tech University and the University of Southern California, respectively.
His military education includes Squadron Officer's School, Air Command and Staff College, and the Air War College.
Moschella served seven years in the enlisted ranks and was commissioned an officer 22 years ago. He has received six Meritorious Service Medals, four Commendation Medals and two Achievement Medals.
He is married to the former Nancy Kisselburg of Poland. The couple has three adult children: Todd, Jason and Maribeth.
ADVANCED TRAINING
Air Force, Army
Several area residents completed advanced military training. They include:
U Army Pvts. Floyd H. Aguino, Nicole F. Scott and Jumoke A. Johnson, graduates of the field services specialist course at Fort Lee, Va. Under the new military occupational specialty, they were trained to operate and maintain laundry and shower units, delousing equipment and decontamination gear; repair canvas and webbed equipment and damaged fabrics; and operate and maintain sewing, darning and button machines.
Aguino, a son of Henry and stepson of Robin Aguino, East Avondale Avenue, graduated in 2001 from Youngstown Woodrow Wilson High School.
Scott, a daughter of Pamela and Streater Scott, Spearman Avenue, Farrell, Pa., is a 1999 graduate of Farrell High School.
Johnson, a son of Myra A. Johnson, Penn Street, Warren, is a 1994 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Warren.
U Air Force Capt. Thomas A. Geiser has graduated from Squadron Officer School at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala. He is a pilot with the 37th Airlift Squadron at Ramstein Air Base, Germany.
Geiser is the son of Joseph and Gay M. Geiser, New Wilmington, Pa. He graduated in 1989 from Wilmington Area High School, New Wilmington, and in 1995 from the Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo. He received a master's degree in 1997 from Oxford University, England.
U Army Pfc. Ryan J. Clark is an honor graduate of the chaplain assistant advanced individual training course at the Chaplain School, Fort Jackson, S.C. Clark is the son of Susan M. Clark, state Route 45, Lisbon, and a 2001 graduate of David Anderson High School, Lisbon.
U Army 1st Lt. Ian D. Midgley graduated from the 14-week Judge Advocate General Officer Basic Course at the Judge Advocate General's School in Charlottesville, Va. The course is an introduction to the practice of military law. He is an administrative law attorney with the 1st Infantry Division in Kitzingen, Germany.
Midgley's wife, Petunia, is the daughter of John M. and Patricia Cernica, Plymouth Drive, Youngstown. He received a bachelor's degree in 1995 from Youngstown State University and earned his doctorate in 1998 from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland.
U Army Sgt. Peter T. Wildman graduated from the Army Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course at Fort Knox, Ky., where he received leadership and specialty training on how to operate and install communications systems. Wildman is an armor crewman assigned to the 1st Battalion, 37th Armor, in Friedburg, Germany. He is the son of Robin Isaacs, East Fourth Street, Salem, and a 1995 graduate of Salem High School.
U Army Pfc. Ashley J. Mayo graduated from the food service specialist advanced individual training course at Fort Lee, Va., where he was trained to perform preliminary food preparation procedures. Mayo is the son of Celestine and Leonard J. Mayo, Carlotta Drive, Youngstown, and is a 1999 graduate of Ursuline High School in Youngstown.
