Poland subdues Struthers, snapping three-game skid



POLAND -- Kristy Gaudiose scored 12 of her 18 points in the middle two quarters as the Poland High girls basketball team defeated Struthers 56-35 in a Metro Athletic Conference game Saturday.
The Wildcats (5-13, 1-8) led 9-3 after eight minutes but were out-scored 32-13 in the next quarters by the Bulldogs (13-5, 6-3).
Julie Gallo also scored 16 points for the Bulldogs, who had lost three in a row.
Kristy Marapese scored seven points for Struthers.
Springfield 55, McDonald 22: MCDONALD -- Meghan Wood scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Tigers (11-7, 9-3 Inter-County League), who have won 10 of their last 11 games.
The Tigers jumped out to a 15-0 lead after one quarter and increased their command to 27-6 at the break.
Brittney Thompson hit for eight points, while Christine Holmes had six points and six rebounds for the Blue Devils (2-16, 1-11).
Boys: CONNEAUT, Pa. -- Reynolds used a balanced scoring attack as it clipped Conneaut Valley 69-52 in a non-conference game.
Deacon Jones triggered the Reynolds (10-11) attack with 22 points. Tom McEntire chipped in with 15 points and Calvan Young added 13.
Sepos pulled down nine of 36 rebounds for Reynolds. Young had eight steals and Jones grabbed seven rebounds. Tanner Bechtel took scoring honors for Conneaut Valley (8-14) with 24 points.
