Penn's Woods folk festival set at Mercer High School



MERCER, Pa. -- The 16th annual Penn's Woods West Folk & amp; Art Festival will run Saturday and Feb. 17 at Mercer High School on Butler Street.
The event is sponsored by the Mercer Area Chamber of Commerce and will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Artisans and craftsmen from several states will be featured. There will be handmade furniture, folk art, pottery, floral and herb products, clothing, jewelry, wood carving and various other items on display.
There will be a quilt show on both days, and William Spoonhoward will offer a "Make It and Take It" seminar dealing with creating small toys.
There will be gardening and scrapbook seminars Saturday, and Mae Berringer, curator of the One Room School Museum, will present "Joanie Appleseed's One Room School Story" on Saturday. Musical entertainers will be "Sound Witness," a gospel group, on Saturday and "Lonesome Road," a country band, on Sunday.
Admission is $4. Parking is free, and shuttle services will be available from marked parking areas around the borough.
