MAKE A WISH | Meeting Mickey Mouse

Name: Alexis Krosky.Age: 31/2.Family: Mom, Rachel Krosky, Salem; grandmother, Betty McGurren, Chester, W.Va.School: Robert Bycroft. Illness: Cerebral palsyWish: To visit Walt Disney World and meet all of her favorite Disney characters.
Rachel Krosky has been taking Alexis to the Disney Store since she was 6 months old. "Because she has a feeding tube, I couldn't bribe her with cookies to do her therapy, so I'd tell her we'd go to the Disney Store after her doctor appointments," Krosky explained.
Alexis' favorites characters are Disney's Mickey and Minnie Mouse and Lyrick Studios' Barney, the giant purple dinosaur. After her third birthday, Alexis was no longer afraid of Santa Claus or live characters, so it was a good time to visit Disney World, her mom said. "She was in total awe when we got there. It was a great time for us just to be together. We forgot about physical therapy and everything else. We were kids all week long. All we did was play."
Each day started off with a ride on the carousel in the Make-a-Wish village. After visiting one of Orlando's amusement parks -- Disney's Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, or Universal Studios -- Alexis would take another spin on the carousel, eat ice cream and get tucked into bed by a giant bunny. The next day, the fun started again.
"Everybody was so nice to us, it was like a dream," her mom said. "Alexis was so excited. She loved Barney and she got really excited when she saw Mickey."
Alexis visited Disney World, Orlando, Fla., on Jan. 7-12.
