Livestock exposcheduled at MCCTC
CANFIELD -- A livestock expo, sponsored by Mahoning County Agricultural Society, Mahoning County Farm Bureau and the Market Livestock Committee, will be March 2 at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, North Palmyra Road.
Junior Fair exhibitors who plan to show an animal at the 2002 Canfield Fair are encouraged to attend to complete requirements for 2002 quality assurance certification.
The Ohio Department of Agriculture mandates that all junior fair participants exhibiting animals attend a quality assurance program.
The livestock expo will feature speakers and educational workshops with programs offered at least twice during the day. Registration is from 9 a.m. to noon; programs run through 3 p.m.
Feed and show supplies will be available. Breakfast and lunch also will be available.
Nominations acceptedfor victims advocate
YOUNGSTOWN -- Nominations are being accepted for the fourth annual Outstanding Victims Advocacy Award, sponsored by Atty. Clair M. Carlin.
The award recognizes people or agencies who best represent volunteers who donate their time and talent to work on behalf of crime victims.
The award will be presented during a National Victims' Week breakfast April 25 at Chrystal's restaurant on Belmont Avenue. Nomination forms are available from Help Hotline Crisis Center, and must be submitted to Help Hotline by April 1.
The 2001 award was shared by the Youngstown Police Department's crisis intervention unit and Mahoning County Adult Protective Services.
