Book signing
Bill Skilton of Boiling Springs, Pa., will be giving a free fly-tying demonstration and signing his new book, "My Fly Patterns, Materials and Techniques" from noon to 8 p.m. on Friday at Books and Hooks, 110 Maple St., Girard
Bill will also talk about how to fish the flies he ties. There is no charge for this event.
Skilton grew up along the Yellow Breeches where he worked with the legendary Ed Koch at the Yellow Breeches Fly Shop and worked for the Leonard Rod Company.
As the owner of USA-FLIES, he has developed fly patterns for Orvis and Umpqua Feather Merchants.
Books and Hooks fly fishing shop (330-545-1906) is in the old Maple Avenue School building.

Federation to host dinner for farmers
The Trumbull County Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs will host the sixth annual Farmer Sportsmen's Dinner at the Trumbull Rod & amp; Gun Club on Phillips Rice Road in Mecca Township on Feb. 18, at 6:30 p.m. The dinner is an annual event in appreciation to those Trumbull County farm owners who allow sportsmen and women to hunt on their property.
Trumbull Rod & amp; Gun Club is on Phillips Rice Road 11/2 miles north of state Route 88 in Mecca.
All Trumbull County farmers and their families who allow sport hunting are invited to attend. The federation does request that farmers planning to attend please RSVP so that adequate food can be prepared. The traditional menu will feature venison Swiss steak, baked ham, and Cajun deep fried turkey.
Sen. Tim Ryan and recently retired Mosquito Wildlife Area Manager Jim Grahal will be featured speakers for the evenings entertainment.

Banquet planned
The Trumbull County Chapter of Waterfowl USA will hold its 12th annual Banquet March 9 at Tiffany's in Brookfield.
Tickets are $55 for a regular membership and $225 for a platinum level membership. Social hour runs 5 to 7 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m.
