NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Geraint Wilkes of Aberystwyth, West Wales, will be the conductor for the annual Gymanfa Ganu, a traditional Welsh singing festival, at 4 p.m. Feb. 23 in Highland Presbyterian Church. A social is at 3:30 p.m. Those events are free.
A formal dinner in the church dining room will follow the musical program. The dinner requires a prepaid reservation of $17 per person by Feb. 16. Call (724) 654-7389.
Valentine's event
YOUNGSTOWN -- The TGIF coffee house at New Beginnings Outreach Ministries will sponsor a Valentine's event at 8 p.m. Friday with the theme "No Greater Love" from John 15:13. The cost is $7 per person, which includes live music, an appetizer and punch. Guests for this evening are Just Chillin' (light jazz), Judah E. and D-Tech (gospel rap duo), Brandi Carson (mime), and JD Mime Ministries. A couple's package with a balloon, flowers and candy will be available at the event. The event is sponsored by Youngstown State University's Protestant Campus Ministry.
Passion musical set
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Calvary Temple Worship Center will be performing its 17th annual presentation of "The Resurrection Musical" at 7 p.m. March 22 to 24 and March 28 to 30. The dramatization of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ features a cast and crew of more than 100. To reserve seats, send $7 per ticket along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope to P.O. Box 820, New Castle, Pa., 16103, or pick up tickets at the church from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m. weekdays except Thursday, and from 8:30 a.m. until noon Thursdays. 'Tetelestai' shows
CAMPBELL -- St. Joseph the Provider Church will present "Tetelestai" at 8 p.m. March 1 and 2 and at 3 p.m. March 3. The Passion play is now in its 25th season with a 100-member cast and crew from the greater Cleveland area.
The title is Greek for "it is finished," Jesus' dying words on the cross. The dramatization has a soft rock musical score. Offerings will be accepted. Call (330) 755-0266.
"Tetelestai" will also be presented at 8 p.m. Feb. 22 and 23 and at 3 p.m. Feb. 24 in First Assembly of God, Ashtabula. The performance is free. A deaf ministry will be available Feb. 24. Call (440) 275-7720.
Lenten studies
GIRARD -- First Presbyterian Church in Girard and Southside Presbyterian Church in Niles will sponsor a free Lenten study series on four of the world's major religions at 7 p.m. Sunday evenings during Lent. Southside will be host of the sessions on Judaism on Feb. 24 and Islam on March 3; First Presbyterian will be host of the study of Hinduism on March 10 and Buddhism on March 17. Call (330) 505-1192.
Day of prayer
CANFIELD -- Area churches will participate in the 2002 World Day of Prayer service at 11 a.m. March 1 at Canfield Christian Church. A luncheon will follow.
