EOWL WRESTLER OF THE WEEK Kyle Kemble, Jackson-Milton

Kyle Kemble, a junior at Jackson-Milton High School, was the only Division III athlete to win a championship at the Eastern Ohio Wrestling Tournament last Saturday at Austintown Fitch High gymnasium. Because of his outstanding effort in the 103-pound class, Kemble was named EOWL Wrestler of the Week.
Kemble (26-5), who placed sixth last year, won four matches to earn the title, which included a 15-4 major decision over Adam Chizmar of Boardman. He also beat Cody Booth of Canfield by pin (20 seconds), Brandon Quinn of Salem by decision (10-5) and top-seed Stu Sanor of West Branch by decision (3-2) for the crown.
"It was my dad's birthday and he was at the tournament, so it motivated me to do my best and that helped me win the EOWL title," said Kemble. "I figured if I could win the EOWL championship, I would have a shot at going to state."
"Coach [Dave] Tomaino has been a big influence in my wrestling career," continued Kemble. "He was the first coach I ever had and I want to finish well for him. Wrestling helps with my dedication in classroom studies and that helps me improve my grades."
The sectional tournament at Rootstown is a week away and Kemble plans to practice hard on his skilled preparations and hopes to earn a berth for state.
Kyle's dad wrestled in high school, said Tomaino, so he's always had an interest in it. "Although he didn't come up through our youth program, he's been wrestling since the eighth grade," said Tomaino. "He wrestles with heart and his quiet leadership and work ethic set examples for others. Kyle is physically strong and sets goals for himself every week and his goal last Saturday was to make into the finals."
