Columbiana sends surveys to residents about cable

COLUMBIANA -- City residents should be receiving surveys in the mail about cable television service, City Manager Keith Chamberlin said.
He said the surveys will give residents the opportunity to register any complaints about cable service.
In the past several years, residents have complained to city council about poor reception, interrupted service and the loss of a regional office where customers can pay bills and report problems.
Negotiations: The city is currently renegotiating its franchise agreement with AT & amp;T Cable, formerly TCI Cablevision of Ohio. The city contracted with Walter and Haverfield attorneys of Cleveland in July to negotiate the city's franchise agreement.
A representative of the law firm has said negotiating such agreements is the firm's only business. He said in all cases, franchise fees increased more than enough for the municipalities to recoup the firm's $15,000 fee.
