Burt powers Wilson girls to 43-30 win

YOUNGSTOWN -- Charity Burt scored a season-high 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, as the Woodrow Wilson High girls basketball team defeated Youngstown Christian 43-30 Thursday.
Wilson's only other win this year was also over Youngstown Christian.
Leslie Norwood also scored 10 points for the Redmen (2-17), who had lost six in a row.
The Eagles led 21-15 at the half.
Canton Timken 62, Chaney 46: YOUNGSTOWN -- Natasha Thompson hit three of her four 3-pointers in the first quarter for nine points as Timken took a 19-6 lead after eight minutes.
Shannelle Williams scored 20 points, Thompson had 16 points and Victoria Watts 14 for Timken.
Tara Mshar hit for 15 points and rebounded nine times, while Joselyn Parker scored 12 points for the Cowboys (6-13, 3-3 City Series).
Boardman 53, Mooney 31: BOARDMAN -- Boardman, ahead only 17-12 at halftime, broke away with a 20-6 surge in the third quarter.
Sophomore Amber Bland scored 25 points to spark the Spartans (17-1, 8-0 Steel Valley Conference), and she grabbed eight rebounds.
Brittany Durkin chipped in with eight points, four assists and six steals.
Anastasia Voulalis led the Cardinals (9-8, 1-6) with 10 points.
Mooney, which had 24 turnovers, had a 25-24 rebounding advantage.
