BOYS BASKETBALL Tip-in by Johnson nets Wilson a win

CANTON -- The Woodrow Wilson High boys basketball team gave itself an opportunity to gain a piece of the City Series crown with Canton Timken.
The Redmen defeated Timken 52-50 on junior Antwaun Johnson's tip-in at the buzzer Thursday at Timken High.
For Wilson (9-8, 4-2 City Series) to earn a share of the title, Timken (10-6, 4-1) must lose to Rayen on Feb. 19 in Canton.
Final play: Wilson assistant coach Dave Smith drew up the final play Thursday designed to get Johnson the ball off a double screen. Johnson was in the right position at the end.
After he and Randall Poindexter missed tips below the basket in the waning seconds, Johnson got one last chance on another tip that fell through the hoop as time expired.
Poindexter scored 14 points to lead Wilson, while the 6-foot-5 Johnson added 12 points and 19 rebounds and Ellis Moody 11 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Demar Clark also grabbed seven rebounds for the Redmen.
