YOUNGSTOWN 8 men facing drug charges

Police arrested men with cocaine, marijuana and prescription Klonopin.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The city police department's vice squad and drug task force made eight arrests at two houses while executing search warrants.
Police entered 27 N. Hine St., on the city's East Side, about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday to find a 21-year-old eating baggies containing suspected crack cocaine in the kitchen. Police took him to the ground and handcuffed him. The man, who lived on Hine Street, was arrested on charges of drug abuse cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia after officers found one rock of suspected crack cocaine beneath him, one rock about two feet away and a scale commonly used for weighing drugs in the kitchen.
Also at 27 N. Hine St., police arrested a 24-year-old resident of the home on a charge of aggravated trafficking crack cocaine. The man ran when police entered the home, throwing two baggies of suspected crack cocaine, packaged for sale, into a floor heating register.
Arrested outside: Outside the residence, officers found a 1995 Chevy Corsica with four men inside and a fifth man knocking on a door to the building. They arrested three men, all from the city's West Side.
Police found two suspected Klonopin pills on the rear passenger floorboard of the car and two in a cigarette box inside the driver-side door's map holder. Klonopin is a prescription drug used to treat convulsive disorders, such as epilepsy, and panic disorders.
Two more pills were found in the pants pocket of Brian Vinion, 44, of Wickliffe Drive, the man who knocked on the door, after police arrested him on an outstanding traffic warrant. He faces a charge of drug abuse Klonopin.
Also facing charges of drug abuse Klonopin were the driver of the car, 19, of North Evanston Avenue; and an 18-year-old passenger of Broadview Avenue. The passenger said the pills on the floorboard were given to him by "some guy."
Florida Avenue house: In a separate search at 227 E. Florida Ave. on the city's South Side, about two hours later, officers arrested three South Side men on charges of trafficking in marijuana. Upon entering the home, the men ran from a dining room area where officers found several baggies of suspected marijuana, plastic baggies and a scale commonly used for weighing drugs.
Arrested were a 21-year-old Hudson Avenue man, a 21-year-old Brentwood Avenue man, and a 20-year-old man. The younger man, Jamal Burley of West Ravenwood Avenue, also was arrested on an outstanding warrant through the Mahoning County Sheriff's Department.
