Actress gives her heartto Fla. school program
MIAMI -- Cameron Diaz has chosen Adopt-A-Classroom, a Miami Beach nonprofit organization, to benefit from the auction of a platinum heart pendant necklace the actress designed.
Diaz is participating in Women with Heart, a program in which some of today's leading female actors and musicians, each paired with a top jewelry designer, design original necklaces to be auctioned off by Sotheby's to benefit the stars' chosen charities.
"We are extremely excited about having such a well-known figure as Cameron Diaz recognize Adopt-A-Classroom," said Jamie Rosenberg, Adopt-A-Classroom's founder and executive director. "A quality education system is so important to the success of our nation, and Adopt-A-Classroom is making significant contributions toward getting communities involved in schools. We are honored to have Ms. Diaz notice and support our efforts."
Online bidding for Diaz's heart pendant necklace will take place at www.sothebys.com through Feb. 15.
Other celebrities participating in the program include Britney Spears, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Charlize Theron, Courteney Cox-Arquette, Drew Barrymore, Faith Hill, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jewel, Kelly Ripa, Renee Zellweger, Tara Reid and Thora Birch.
Meg Ryan gets orderagainst 'husband'
SANTA MONICA, Calif. -- Meg Ryan obtained a three-year restraining order Monday against a man who says he's her husband and who broke into a home he thought belonged to the actress.
The same man, John Michael Hughes, 30, of Navarre, Fla., was convicted last year of trying to drive onto the Texas ranch of President Bush with high-powered automatic weapons.
On Jan. 6, Hughes was arrested at the Malibu home that belonged to Andrea and Tomas Ryan. The owners are not related to the actress. Deputies found whiskey, wine, $2,700 in cash, a magazine with Meg Ryan on the cover and a night vision scope in Hughes' car, according to court documents.
Hughes faces a misdemeanor charge of unauthorized entry for the break-in.
Ryan did not appear in court Monday, but sent a statement saying Hughes' actions were "alarming" and "caused me to be concerned and fearful for my and my family's safety."

LOS ANGELES -- Kid Rock is a man with simple tastes.
Cable television's Burly Bear Network, dedicated to college audiences ages 18 to 24, asked the rock-rapper what keeps him grounded and the answer wasn't complicated.
"I don't really have any secrets, just that some things you can't change, and you are who you are and I just try to be that person and I guess that's my words of wisdom, if that equals wisdom in any way," he said.
"You know, when I started I liked Big Macs and Budweiser and I still like Big Macs and Budweiser. I am happy to make money. I want to make more money, make more music, eat Big Macs and drink Budweisers."
The episode on Burly Bear Network's "AV Squad" show, which was videotaped recently, will air Feb. 21 on TBS.
