East Liverpool earnswrestling honors
EAST LIVERPOOL -- The East Liverpool High wrestling team competed in the 16-team Southview Classic, where it came away with 12 awards and trophy winners.
The Potters finished fifth with 214.50 points. The top four teams were Clyde (366), North Royalton (362), Southview (314) and Keystone (225).
Crowned champions for the Potters were Chris Green (171, 18-0), who was also named the MVW in the upper weight classes, and Josh Stansbury (19-0).
Other place winners for East Liverpool were Anthony Duffield at 103, Matt Walker at 112, Jake Bates at 119 and Dean Hornbeck at 135.
The 275-weight class had Potter teammates Zach Davis and Stephen Badgley, with Davis winning the decision 4-1 to place fifth.
Champions for the Potters in the B-division tournament were Jason Randolph at 152 and Shawn Green at 189. Also placing were Micah Campbell at 125, Aaron Carter at 160 and Aaron Smith at 160.

Big Ten suspends Indiana coach
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana coach Mike Davis apologized again for an on-court confrontation in hopes he could move on with what began as a promising season for the Hoosiers.
First, however, there will be one more reminder -- a one-game suspension that will keep Davis off the sideline for the Hoosiers' game Tuesday night at Ball State.
"This is the last time I'm going to apologize, and it's the last time I'm going to talk about that game," Davis said Monday. "It's been a distraction for me and my family."
Davis was suspended for his outburst at a referee during a loss to Kentucky on Dec. 21. The Big Ten Conference said it accepted Indiana's recommendation for the punishment, and the conference also publicly reprimanded Davis and told him to write an apology to the officials.
Clemens signsone-year contract
NEW YORK -- The Rocket wants to go out draped in pinstripes.
Roger Clemens and the New York Yankees capped two months of talks by agreeing Monday to a $10.1 million, one-year contract. The six-time Cy Young Award winner also said he'll probably retire after next season, his 20th in the major leagues.
"My feeling is right now that I don't anticipate playing past this year," Clemens said. "I plan on going out the right way -- like I always have, full throttle."
An eight-time All-Star who turns 41 in August. He's gone 60-27 in four seasons.
Rose talks on hold
NEW YORK -- A meeting between Hall of Famers and commissioner Bud Selig to discuss Pete Rose was postponed at the request of baseball officials.
The Hall had been contacting its 58 living members about a possible gathering in Los Angeles on Jan. 17. But Bob DuPuy, baseball's chief operating office, asked the Hall on Friday to delay the session.
Bruce Smith meetswith 'Skins' brass
ASHBURN, Va. -- Bruce Smith has been talked out of retirement three sacks short of the NFL record. For now, at least.
The 18-year veteran had planned to announced his retirement but postponed his plans after meeting with Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder, defensive coordinator Marvin Lewis and Gerry Snyder, the owner's father and partner.
Giants Stadium fieldneeds costly repairs
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The grass field at Giants Stadium was so bad after the Jets and Giants played games this past weekend that the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority is spending roughly $120,000 to put in a new field for the playoffs.
Hill has troublewith ailing ankle
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Orlando Magic forward Grant Hill was ruled out of playing against the Washington Wizards, and the team was trying to find a way to end the chronic tendinitis in his left ankle.
Hill has had three operations on the ankle since breaking it in 2000 while with the Detroit Pistons. He has missed seven games this season, and played 10 minutes or less in three others.
Olympic allegationsbeing reviewed
DENVER -- The U.S. Olympic Committee's ethics panel is reviewing allegations that chief executive Lloyd Ward helped his brother's company land a deal with the 2003 Pan American Games.
The allegations were reported by the LA Times, which said Ward directed his staff to help Energy Management Technologies garner a deal to supply power generators for the Pan Am Games in the Dominican Republic.
