Police probe reportsof boy's making threats
AUSTINTOWN -- Police are investigating a report that a 15-year-old Rhode Island Drive boy threatened to stab a teenage girl Friday afternoon. The boy also is suspected of threatening another teenage girl with a gun.
One of the girls, 17, told police that the boy sexually harassed her when he came to her porch about 3:30 p.m. to deliver her newspaper. The girl told the boy to leave her alone.
The boy then showed the girl a pocketknife and threatened to stab her, the girl said. She went inside her house.
The boy stayed on the porch with several other boys, who were not identified. When the girl tried to come out of her house, the boy chased her inside. The group of boys later left.
A 15-year-old girl told police that she went to the boy's house a few hours later to play pool.
At one point, the boy took his father's hunting rifle from a cabinet and told the girl to "look at the hole the bullet comes out of," reports state. The girl called her father, who told her to come home.
Police investigatephoned bomb threat
AUSTINTOWN -- A man called police Friday evening and said he had planted two bombs between Burkey and New roads. The man said the bombs were set to go off between 9 and 11 p.m. No bombs were found in the area.
The call came at about 7 p.m. from a pay phone in the parking lot of the Shell gas station on South Raccoon Road. Police are investigating.
Woman reports harassing call
AUSTINTOWN -- A Westchester Drive woman told police that a man called her from a South Raccoon Road pizza restaurant Friday and asked her if she wanted the head of a dead baby in her pizza.
The woman had been involved in a dispute with a delivery man from the restaurant. After receiving the call about 9 p.m., the woman dialed *69 on her phone. She said the phone number came back as that of the restaurant.
Police are investigating.
Assault reportedat Austintown business
AUSTINTOWN -- Police are investigating a report that a Youngstown woman hit a Girard woman in the head with a picture frame Saturday afternoon at a Mahoning Avenue check-cashing business.
The Girard woman, who is an employee of the business, said she has had disagreements with the Youngstown woman, 21, of Brockway Avenue, in the past. She said that about 12:45 p.m., the Youngstown woman came into the business and asked her to step outside. She said no, and the manager of the business asked the Youngstown woman to leave.
The Youngstown woman then threw a cardboard sign and the picture frame at the Girard woman, hitting her in the face, reports state. The Girard woman had a small cut on her face. The Youngstown woman then left the business.
Cops investigatereport of assault
AUSTINTOWN -- A Youngstown man told police he was punched by two men early Sunday at Denny's restaurant on Mahoning Avenue.
He said one of the men, who were sitting next to him at the restaurant, was swearing into a cell phone about 3 a.m. The Youngstown man's brother-in-law asked the man to stop swearing in front of his wife and the Youngstown man's wife, who also were sitting at his table.
The men then grabbed the Youngstown man and punched him in the chest and face, reports state. The men also tried to punch the brother-in-law. The Youngstown man had bruises on his face and swelling around his eye.
The men left the restaurant and drove away. Police are investigating.
