BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Marian Gaborik had a goal that tied him for the NHL lead, and added two assists to pace the Minnesota Wild to a victory over the Buffalo Sabres. Gaborik tied Vancouver's Markus Naslund with 23 goals when he beat Martin Biron just 27 seconds after Miroslav Satan had given the Sabres a 1-0 lead 2:57 into the game. Gaborik also assisted on goals by Filip Kuba and Jim Dowd. Antti Laaksonen added empty-net goal after Ales Kotalik pulled the Sabres to 3-2 by beating Manny Fernandez with 1:31 left. Buffalo's Stu Barnes accounted for the final goal with 56 seconds left in the game. Minnesota is 8-1-1 when Gaborik, who finished with three points for the fourth time, has more than one point.

ATLANTA -- Rob Zamuner scored a power-play goal late in the first period and John Grahame made it stand, stopping 29 shots as the Boston Bruins beat the Atlanta Thrashers. The Bruins spoiled the home debut of Atlanta interim coach Don Waddell, who took over when Curt Fraser was fired by Waddell -- the general manager -- Thursday. Fraser watched most the game from a suite next to the press box. Grahame got his fourth career shutout, and Boston improved to 2-6-1 in its past nine games. The Thrashers, who beat Carolina for the first time ever Friday night in Waddell's first game behind the bench, have lost 10 of 12 -- twice in overtime. They fell to 4-11 in one-goal games.

UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Chris Osgood made 25 saves as the New York Islanders earned their first shutout of the season with a victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. Osgood helped the Islanders kill off 10 penalties in recording his 35th career shutout. Mark Parrish, Alexei Yashin and Michael Peca scored for New York, which has won two straight. Defenseman Roman Hamrlik, playing his first game since Dec. 10 after missing six games with a separated left shoulder, assisted on each goal. Former Islanders goalie Kevin Weekes stopped 26 shots for the Hurricanes, who have dropped two in a row.

SUNRISE, Fla. -- Darius Kasparaitis' first goal of the season, scored 56 seconds into overtime, gave the New York Rangers the victory over the Florida Panthers. Bobby Holik passed the puck into the slot to Kasparaitis, who redirected a shot between the legs of goalie Jani Hurme. Radek Dvorak also scored for the Rangers, who had not led in any of the last eight games -- including Saturday. Mike Dunham had 19 saves for New York, which snapped a three-game losing streak. Sandis Ozolinsh scored for Florida.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Sean Avery had a goal and an assist in Detroit's win over Nashville. Kris Draper, Boyd Devereaux, and Sergei Fedorov added goals for the defending Stanley Cup champions. Andreas Johansson and Scott Hartnell scored for Nashville. Detroit goalie Manny Legace was forced out of the game when he was knocked down by Nashville's Scott Hartnell who skated into the goal crease on a breakaway. Curtis Joseph replaced Legace, who made 21 saves.
Devils 2, Capitals 1, OT
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Scott Niedermayer scored a power-play goal with 49.5 seconds left in overtime to give New Jersey a victory over Washington. Christian Berglund also scored for the Devils, coming off a 3-2 loss in Washington on Friday night. New Jersey got the overtime power play when Washington was called for having too many men on the ice. Jaromir Jagr was slow to leave the ice after arguing that a penalty should have been called when he was pulled down by Devils defenseman Oleg Tverdovsky.
