Shooting in car dispute
YOUNGSTOWN -- Police are searching for a juvenile who witnesses allege shot an older relative accused of stealing the family car.
Charles Perry, 27, was lying in the street in front of 1548 Florencedale Ave., bleeding from a single bullet wound to the abdomen, when police arrived about 1:30 p.m. Saturday, reports say. He was in stable condition Saturday night in a local hospital.
Witnesses told police a 17-year-old relative and the boy's mother, grandmother and a female cousin came looking for Perry at his girlfriend's house to recover a 1988 Oldsmobile they contend he stole Wednesday.
A witness said one of the women carried a baseball bat.
The women were leaving in the Oldsmobile when a fistfight erupted between Perry and the young man, Perry's girlfriend told police.
The young man pulled a handgun and fired, she said.
