NHL ROUNDUP | Saturday's other games

Wild 4, Sabres 3
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Marian Gaborik had a goal that tied him for the NHL lead, and added two assists to pace the Minnesota Wild to a victory over the Buffalo Sabres. Gaborik tied Vancouver's Markus Naslund with 23 goals when he beat Martin Biron just 27 seconds after Miroslav Satan had given the Sabres a 1-0 lead 2:57 into the game. Gaborik also assisted on goals by Filip Kuba and Jim Dowd. Antti Laaksonen added empty-net goal after Ales Kotalik pulled the Sabres to 3-2 by beating Manny Fernandez with 1:31 left. Buffalo's Stu Barnes accounted for the final goal with 56 seconds left in the game. Minnesota is 8-1-1 when Gaborik, who finished with three points for the fourth time, has more than one point. Fernandez, appearing in his 19th game of the season, stopped 37 shots. Biron, who has started 15 of the last 16 games, stopped 25. Satan, with seven goals and 14 points in his last 14 games, scored his team-leading 12th goal for Buffalo.
Bruins 1, Thrashers 0
ATLANTA -- Rob Zamuner scored a power-play goal late in the first period and John Grahame made it stand, stopping 29 shots as the Boston Bruins beat the Atlanta Thrashers. The Bruins spoiled the home debut of Atlanta interim coach Don Waddell, who took over when Curt Fraser was fired by Waddell -- the general manager -- Thursday. Fraser watched most the game from a suite next to the press box. Grahame got his fourth career shutout, and Boston improved to 2-6-1 in its past nine games. The Thrashers, who beat Carolina for the first time ever Friday night in Waddell's first game behind the bench, have lost 10 of 12 -- twice in overtime. They fell to 4-11 in one-goal games. Zamuner redirected a shot from Sean O'Donnell from just in front of the crease at 16:31 of the first period, and the puck slipped passed Pasi Nurminen. Atlanta defenseman Andy Sutton was serving a minor for cross checking after he leveled Andy Hilbert by the net. But Nurminen, playing because Byron Dafoe missed his third straight game with a score groin, finished with 34 saves.
Islanders 3, Hurricanes 0
UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Chris Osgood made 25 saves as the New York Islanders earned their first shutout of the season with a victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. Osgood helped the Islanders kill off 10 penalties in recording his 35th career shutout. Mark Parrish, Alexei Yashin and Michael Peca scored for New York, which has won two straight. Defenseman Roman Hamrlik, playing his first game since Dec. 10 after missing six games with a separated left shoulder, assisted on each goal. Former Islanders goalie Kevin Weekes stopped 26 shots for the Hurricanes, who have dropped two in a row. Parrish scored his team-leading 13th goal to give New York a 1-0 lead at 8:51 of the first period. Parrish fired a slap shot that Weekes stopped, but the rebound went right back to Parrish, who banged it into the net.
Rangers 2, Panthers 1, OT
SUNRISE, Fla. -- Darius Kasparaitis' first goal of the season, scored 56 seconds into overtime, gave the New York Rangers the victory over the Florida Panthers. Bobby Holik passed the puck into the slot to Kasparaitis, who redirected a shot between the legs of goalie Jani Hurme. Radek Dvorak also scored for the Rangers, who had not led in any of the last eight games -- including Saturday. Mike Dunham had 19 saves for New York, which snapped a three-game losing streak. Sandis Ozolinsh scored for Florida. Hurme, making his first start since Nov. 30, had 35 saves, including two in overtime. He blocked three Rangers shots in the final nine seconds to send the game into overtime.
