EUGENE, Ore. -- Ian Crosswhite scored 18 points and Luke Ridnour had 15 points, five rebounds and five assists Sunday to lead No. 5 Oregon to a 90-81 victory over No. 25 Minnesota.
Luke Jackson added 10 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Ducks (8-1), who won their 22nd consecutive home game, one off the school record set from 1937-39.
Steve Esselink led the Gophers (6-2) with 18 points, all on 3-pointers. Rick Rickert, who had a career-high 28 points last year against Oregon, struggled with foul trouble and ended with eight points in 16 minutes.
Esselink hit four 3-pointers in a three-minute stretch to lead Minnesota's comeback that got it within three points with 3:11 left.
McArthur Court was sold out for a non-conference game for the first time since Notre Dame visited in 1984. The Gophers are the first ranked non-conference opponent to appear in Eugene since 1996, when then-No. 13 Fresno State was upset 87-75.
Minnesota is also the first Big Ten team to visit Eugene since Purdue lost 62-59 on Dec. 23, 1988.
No. 9 Notre Dame 93, Canisius 75
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Matt Carroll scored 25 points on 10-of-12 shooting and Dan Miller added a career-high 23 points to lead the Irish.
Notre Dame shot 57 percent and went 12-of-26 from 3-point range. Miller was 6-of-9 and Carroll was 4-of-5. Chris Thomas added 17 points for Notre Dame and had 13 assists, tying his career high.
The Irish (10-1) are off to their best start since going 12-1 to start the 1978-79 season, when they were ranked No. 1 for a month.
Brian Dux scored 20 points for Canisius (5-4).
No. 23 North Carolina 69, Florida St. 48
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Jawad Williams scored 10 of his 16 points in the second half as the Tar Heels broke from a halftime tie for the easy win in the Atlantic Coast Conference opener for both.
North Carolina (7-2) started the second half with a 9-2 run to go up 39-32 lead. The Tar Heels went ahead 54-38 with 11:24 left and held its largest lead at 69-44 in the final minute.
Rashad McCants added 12 points for the Tar Heels, who shot 45.9 percent in the second half when Florida State hit just 29.6 percent.
Tim Pickett led Florida State (6-2) with 15 points and 11 rebounds, but he was just 1-of-10 from 3-point range where the Seminoles were 1-of-16.
