Coaches: Ed DiGregorio is 315-226 in his 20th season at YSU. Kelly Kennedy is in her first season with the Zips.
YSU starters: Jessica Olmstead, 5-foot-9 sophomore guard (9.7 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game); Maggie Johnston 5-5 senior guard (10.0, 3.4); Jen Perugini, 6-2 sophomore center (8.6, 4.9); Jessica Forsythe, 5-10 junior forward (10.0, 7.3); Devin Novak, 5-10 junior forward (10, 2.1).
Akron starters: Celina Dopoulos, 5-8 sophomore guard (4.8, 2.0); Jen Arnold, 5-8 sophomore guard (5.5, 2.6); Dominique Harris, 5-8 junior guard (6.8, 1.8); Cydney Overton, 6-2 sophomore forward (4.5, 5.1); Felecia Bell, 6-0 senior forward (2.0, 2.0).
Game notes: The Penguins are on a four-game losing streak after following to Ohio State 76-45 on Friday. This will be the sixth game against a Mid-American Conference opponent this year for the Penguins, who are 1-4 to date, beating only Bowling Green. Akron comes into the game on a three-game losing streak, most recently to Arizona State 82-46. The Zips only win came against Cleveland State 72-65. The Zips are without their top two scorers who are injured. Senior Cassandra Martin of Struthers leads the team in scoring with 14 points a game, but hasn't played the last three games. She scored 31 points against Cleveland State.
Series: This will be the 41st meeting between the two schools with YSU owning a 30-10 advantage including the last six meetings. The Penguins won last year at Akron 70-47.
