PREP BOYS Mooney avenges loss to St. Thomas



The Cardinals lost to Aquinas in last year's district semifinal.
LOUISVILLE -- Senior Curtis Ingram hit a pair of free throws with 12 seconds left to give the Mooney High boys basketball team a 50-47 lead and the visiting Cardinals held on defense to top St. Thomas Aquinas Saturday.
Ingram finished with 20 points for Mooney (6-0), which avenged last year's Division III district semifinal loss to Aquinas.
Ron Stoops added 11 points for Mooney.
Hubbard 58, Warren JFK 56
HUBBARD -- Warren JFK's Shane Golden scored all 10 of his points in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough as Hubbard held off visiting Kennedy.
Jason Lenzi led all scorers with 25 points -- including 8 of 8 from the foul line in the fourth quarter -- for Hubbard (4-2), which led 27-16 at halftime. Jacoby Morris added 14 points.
Keith Black led JFK (3-3) with 17 points and Colin Clemente added 11.
Youngstown Christian 66, Warren Christian 34
YOUNGSTOWN -- Themi Tsarnas scored 17 points and Mike Vitullo added 14 as Youngstown Christian took a 39-17 halftime lead.
Mike Byrdy added 10 points for Youngstown (2-4).Dave Danadio and Billy Powell each had nine points for Warren (2-7).
Maplewood 74, Bloomfield 40
NORTH BLOOMFIELD -- Matt Chronister scored 15 points and Jeremy Mohorick added 13 as Maplewood (4-1, 1-0) routed Bloomfield in a Northeastern Conference game Friday night.
Kevin Brzyscz scored 16 points to lead Bloomfield (0-3, 0-2), and Josh Mobley had 10.
Kennedy Catholic 59, Laurel 48
SHARON -- Ramone Truxon and Craig Wellman each scored 14 points as Kennedy Catholic took a 16-8 first quarter lead and held off visiting Laurel.
Dan Harris added 12 points -- including three 3-pointers -- for Kennedy Catholic (7-1).
Mike Burkett scored 19 and Bobby Turner added 12 for Laurel.
