School charity drive
COLUMBIANA -- Sixth- through eighth-grade pupils at Southside Middle School divided $2,141 among four area charities.
Receiving the donations this week are Angels for Animals, Camp Rachel, Toys for Tots and The Make-a-Wish Foundation.
The pupils raised the money the week of Dec. 9 through the annual school Christmas store.
Jean Cusick, guidance counselor, said the pupils and their parents, school staff and some community volunteers donated items to be sold at the store.
Pupils bought the items for Christmas gifts.
Cusick said pupils had a list of charities from which to choose. Donations were made to the top four charities, based on the number of votes each charity received.
