COLLEGE HOOPS B-W defeats MUC, 87-83
The Yellow Jackets outlasted Mount Union for their sixth win.
BEREA -- Thad Davis had 20 points and nine rebounds and Tom Harrington scored 19 points, to help Baldwin-Wallace hold off Mount Union 87-83 Wednesday night.
The Yellow Jackets (6-1, 2-1 Ohio Conference) opened a 21-3 lead with 13:08 remaining in the first half.
The Purple Raiders took their first lead at 81-80 on Chris Blakely's three-point play with 1:18 remaining in the game.
Shawn McCormick scored B-W's final seven points for the win. He finished with 14.
Blakely led Mount Union (5-2, 2-1) with 19 points and eight rebounds.
Women
ALLIANCE -- Allie Graf made five 3-point goals, scored 19 points and added five rebounds, as Mount Union team defeated Baldwin-Wallace 66-63.
Graf, a graduate of Poland High School, recorded 10 of the final 15 Mount Union points.
With 4:29 to play, Graf hit a 3-pointer to give the Raiders a 61-59 lead.
After Baldwin-Wallace took a 63-62 advantage, Graf again struck from 3-point land, pushing Mount in front 65-63 with 1:14 remaining. Graf also made a foul shot with one second on the clock.
Nikki Scarpitti added 12 points for the Purple Raiders (5-2, 3-0 Ohio Athletic Conference).
Natalie Winkelfoos scored 16 points for Baldwin-Wallace (6-1, 2-1).
Mercyhurst 65, Slippery Rock 61
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Krista Ross scored 15 points on a 7-for-13 shooting night for Mercyhurst (2-7).
Missy McKavish hit for 18 points and Stacey Green rebounded 17 times for the Rock (3-5).
Thiel 82, La Roche 62
PITTSBURGH -- Four of the five starters finished in double figure scoring for the Tomcats (4-5).
Amanda Swanson led Thiel with 24 points.
