TRUMBULL COUNTY Farrell, Pa., man is jailed in shooting of Niles man

Police said the two men were in a woman's apartment when an argument broke out.
NILES -- Police have charged a Farrell, Pa., man in the shooting of a Niles man at an apartment complex here late Tuesday.
Jason Howell, 28, of Idaho Street, was scheduled for arraignment today in municipal court. He was being held in the city jail.
Howell is accused of the shooting of Michael Wright, 22, of 169 Royal Mall Drive in the Royal Arms Apartments.
Wright was listed in critical condition this morning in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, where he underwent surgery for an upper chest wound.
Police Capt. Chuck Wilson said the two men were in a woman's apartment at 164 Royal Mall when an argument broke out.
Wilson alleged that Howell pulled his .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol and fired one shot at Wright shortly before 11 p.m.
When police arrived after 911 was called, Wright was found wounded on a front porch.
Howell was found inside 164 Royal Mall, and police recovered the pistol.
Wilson said he knows a part of the motive for the shooting but declined to release it this early in the investigation.
The captain said the men knew each other and the woman was to be interviewed again today.
