TAC Lakeview remains unbeaten



John Sekora's 3-point goal helped lift Newton Falls over Liberty, 58-56.
CORTLAND -- The Lakeview High boys basketball team blasted out to a big first-quarter lead and posted a 63-38 win over Girard in the Trumbull Athletic Conference on Tuesday.
Jim McHale and Brent McCullough each scored six points in the first eight minutes as the Bulldogs (6-0, 3-0) took a 25-8 lead into the second quarter.
Kevin Rigby collected 12 points, 11 rebounds and four assists, while Brandon Bakker hit for 10 points for Lakeview.
McHale and McCullough evenly split 16 points.
Jared Archer scored eight points for the Indians (0-4, 0-3).
Newton Falls 58, Liberty 56
NEWTON FALLS -- The Leopards closed fast from a 10-point deficit (39-29) at the end of three quarters but couldn't pull even.
With the lead at one point, 55-54, John Sekora hit his third 3-pointer to give the Tigers (5-1, 3-0) a 58-54 lead with less than a minute to play.
Sekora finished with 13 points, Jeff Stanley had 12 points and six rebounds and Kevin Powell produced 10 points and six rebounds.
Bradley Fletcher, Joel Marshall and Joe Lopez scored 19, 18 and 11 points, respectively, for the Leopards (4-1, 2-1).
Champion 58, Brookfield 56 (OT)
BROOKFIELD -- With the matter knotted at 56-all and 20 seconds remaining in the extra session, Mark Kish grabbed an offensive rebound and scored a lay-up for the Flashes (3-2, 1-1).
Kish had 20 points, Josh Ozanich scored 14 points, while Kevin Stingel and Mike Wortman each had 11 points for Champion.
Ted Swogger collected 15 points, while Chris Davis tacked on 14 points and eight rebounds for the Warriors (3-3, 1-2).
Hubbard 61, Badger 45
KINSMAN -- Jason Lenzi was shut out in the first quarter but scored 25 points the rest of the way for the Eagles (3-2, 1-2).
Jacoby Morris had 14 points and Jeff Jablonski added 10 for Hubbard, which led 31-17 at the break.
Kyle Arnold and Anthony Mancini each had 11 points for the Braves (1-5, 0-2).
Badger scored 24 points in the third quarter to trail just 50-41 entering the fourth quarter.
