New Castle police investigate burglaries



NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- City police are investigating a rash of weekend burglaries at homes and businesses.
Police said burglars broke into the American Automobile Association building on East Street sometime from 5 p.m. Friday to 8:30 a.m. Saturday and took $150. A safe containing Pennsylvania automobile registrations was also ransacked, but it is unclear if anything was taken, police said.
Police also are looking into a burglary at a home on the 400 block of North Cascade Street sometime overnight from Thursday to Friday. Police said three handguns, a Sony PlayStation 2, Sony PlayStation games and a DVD movie are missing.
Police also reported that building tools valued at $1,000 were missing from a new home under construction on Rose Avenue. A window, valued at $1,800 was also damaged, police said.
