SHARING THE LOAD
How it's distributed
Part of the purpose of Lawrence County's new central court is to have a more equal distribution of criminal and civil cases between the county's five district magistrates. Under the proposed changes for the coming year, district magistrates will each average about 3,000 cases year. Here is a listing of each magistrate's approximate annual caseloads under the current system:
Melissa Amodie, 5,000.
Samuel Battaglia, 1,700.
J.V. Lamb, 3,360.
David Rishel, 2,320.
James Reed, 2,425.
