Seafood store fire
Seafood store fire
YOUNGSTOWN -- The cause is likely electrical, and damage loss is about $10,000 in a Saturday evening fire at Galaxy Seafood store, 1722 Belmont Ave., Fire Battalion Chief Robert Hian said. The blaze, which was reported at 7:30 p.m. by a passerby, erupted in basement rafters near an electrical service box about two hours after the store closed. No employees were on the premises when the fire broke out, Hian said. Firefighters had to drill through the front gate and crash through the front door to enter. There were no injuries. Most of the damage is from smoke, and the store will have to remain closed until the city health department approves its reopening, Hian said. Police kept Belmont Avenue closed to nonemergency vehicles while firefighters were at the scene.
