NHL ROUNDUP Saturday's games

Red Wings 6, Blue Jackets 4
DETROIT -- Detroit's Sergei Fedorov had two goals and an assist one day after his 33rd birthday. Brendan Shanahan, Tomas Holmstrom, Darren McCarty and Kirk Maltby also scored for Detroit. Lasse Pirjeta, Geoff Sanderson, Tyler Wright and Jody Shelley scored for Columbus. Shelley's goal 1:40 into third period pulled the Blue Jackets within 5-4. His slap shot from the top of the left circle bounced in off Curtis Joseph's shoulder. But Maltby restored Detroit's two-goal lead with 7:47 left when he converted Brett Hull's pass from the slot. Fedorov's short-handed goal with 3:18 left in the second period gave Detroit a 5-3 lead. Detroit led 4-3 after the first period. Shanahan scored from the top of the right circle off a faceoff at 1:10 and Holmstrom tallied when he broke in off the right side just 51 seconds later. But Columbus tied it with goals less than two minutes apart. Pirjeta scored from the slot at 5:13 and Sanderson put one on in off Joseph's pads at 7:12 for his 16th goal. Fedorov gave Detroit a 3-2 lead with 9:20 left in the period when he scored from the bottom of the right circle. But Wright tied it at 3 just 22 seconds later when his shot from beside the net trickled between Joseph's pad and the post. The Red Wings regained their lead with 2:12 left in the period when McCarty put in a cross-crease feed from Fedorov.
Maple Leafs 4, Rangers 1
TORONTO -- Mats Sundin had a goal and an assist as Toronto handed New York its season-high fifth straight loss. The Rangers, on their longest losing streak since dropping six in a row last season, elected to give 19-year-old Dan Blackburn his 18th straight start in goal instead of using Mike Dunham -- acquired in a trade Thursday night. Tie Domi and Nik Antropov also scored for the resurgent Maple Leafs, who have won eight straight at home and nine of 12 overall. Maple Leafs goalie Ed Belfour had another impressive game, turning aside 36 shots. Toronto's Mikael Renberg also had a goal and an assist. Mark Messier, who missed New York's last game with back spasms, scored the lone goal for the Rangers, who were also without Pavel Bure (knee surgery), and defensemen Brian Leetch (ankle), and Sylvain Lefebvre (broken finger).
Canadiens 4, Bruins 2
MONTREAL -- Richard Zednik, Chad Kilger, Craig Rivet and Yanic Perreault scored to lead Montreal to an emotional win. Boston, which got goals from Ivan Huml and Marty McInnis, extended its season-high losing streak to three. A soldout crowd of 21,273 booed Boston captain Joe Thornton repeatedly. Thornton was fined by the NHL -- though not suspended -- for spearing Canadiens defenseman Andrei Markov on Tuesday. He drew the crowd's wrath when he took a swing at Montreal captain Saku Koivu after drawing a pair of minor penalties on the same play late in the second.
Flyers 2, Sabres 0
PHILADELPHIA -- Robert Esche recorded his first shutout for Philadelphia and Donald Brashear and Eric Desjardins scored for the Flyers. Esche, obtained last summer from Phoenix as part of the deal that sent Brian Boucher to the Coyotes, was rarely tested in stopping 15 shots. His best stop was a glove save on a shot from the right point by Dmitri Kalinin with 3:34 remaining. It was his fourth career shutout. The Flyers pelted Martin Biron with 33 shots while holding the Sabres to their lowest shot total of the season. Brashear put the Flyers ahead 1-0 with his second goal of the season and first in 24 games. He snapped a wrist shot high in the net from the left circle at 15:18 of the second period. Desjardins scored at 14:05 of the third when he beat Biron with a shot from the point on a breakaway.
Lightning 4, Islanders 3
TAMPA, Fla. -- Vincent Lecavalier had two goals and an assist to lead Tampa Bay. Cory Sarich and Vaclav Prospal also scored for the Lightning, who snapped a five-game losing streak against the Islanders. Mark Parrish, Shawn Bates and Kenny Jonsson scored for New York.
Senators 4, Devils 3, OT
OTTAWA -- Mike Fisher's goal 1:50 into overtime gave Ottawa a 4-3 victory and extended its home unbeaten streak to a club-record eight games. Todd White, Shaun Van Allen and Havlat also scored for Ottawa, stretching the Senators' unbeaten string to five games (4-0-1). Jamie Langenbrunner, Sergei Brylin and Christian Berglund scored for New Jersey.
