KEYSTONE CLIPS Precipitation total balances shortfalls



The year 2002 continues to be wetter than normal, making up for a couple of years when less-than-usual precipitation fell in the Shenango Valley.
Data kept by the Shenango Valley Division of Consumers Pennsylvania Water Co. showed that precipitation for November totaled 3.79 inches, as compared to the normal 3.4 inches for the month.
Precipitation for the first 11 months of the year totaled 42.95 inches, compared to the average 36.42 inches during that period.
The normal total annual precipitation of 39.35 inches for the Valley. Total precipitation last year reached only 34.71 inches.
Special-needs dance
There will be a dance for special-needs people from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Freddie Fresh Dance Club at 160 W. State St., Sharon.
The dance is open to any person with special needs and is sponsored by the Mercer County unit of Special Olympics Pennsylvania. Admission is $3. A portion of that money will go to the Mercer County Special Olympics effort.
Watercolor Exhibit
The Valley Arts Guild is looking for entries for the Jan. 10 opening of its 20th annual Watercolor Exhibit. Entry forms will be accepted through Friday and are available at the Guild office at 10 Vine Ave., Sharon, or on the Guild Web site at www.artgally.com/vag.
Fran Ischo Mangino, a member of the Ohio Watercolor Society and the Central Ohio Watercolor Society, will be the show judge. She holds a bachelor of science degree in art education from Kent State University. Guild members can enter up to three pieces for $15, but non-Guild members must pay $25 for up to three entries.
